1. Gather the necessary tools

The mandatory tools you are going to need to complete this process are-

A cardboard
A bucket or bowl
A socket (12mm)

2. Give the engine some time to cool down

You are going to change the oil, right? If the engine is too hot, we mean you just got off from the vehicle, the engine oil must be burning. In that time, if you choose to change the oil, you might get hurt. At least give an hour to the engine to cool down.

3. Do the cardboard

Now get the bucket or bowl ready. And put cardboard right under the front of the vehicle. You can escape from the possible mess from the spills in this way.

4. Go under the hood

After laying the cardboard under the ground, you are ready to go under the hood. Remember to take the socket and bucket with you.

5. Remove the drain bolt

It is time to remove the drain bolt. You will find it right behind the front end of the vehicle. We mean the front tire of course. Put the bucket under the drain bolt. Because the oil will be out as soon as you remove the bolt.

Now gently use the socket. The bolt should not be too tight. After the removal of the bolt, give some time for the oil to come out completely. You can wait for some dripping too. After that put the bolt back into its place. Do not over-tighten it.

6. Take off the oil filter & place the new one in its place

Now it is time for you to find the oil filter. Usually, the location of the oil filter is on the passenger side, above the front axle. Place the bucket under the oil filter too. Then remove the oil filter. You should be able to do this with bare hands. Just be careful here. If you do something wrong, everything will be messy.

Then install the new oil filter in the old one’s place. And you are done in this part.

7. Pour the engine oil

After pouring some amount from the second bottle, check the oil level with the dipstick. As soon as you are satisfied that you have poured enough oil, put the cap back on.

8. Start up the engine

You can’t simply pour oil into the oil filter. In order to do so, you have to start the engine. After the start-up, you will see that the oil level has gone down a bit.

9. Reset the indicator of oil

You have completed the manual part. Now it is time to let the engine know about the new oil. You have to reset the indicator in the dashboard to do so. Try to find the oil life setting. After you find the setting, you have to push the ‘play’ button on the steering wheel.

At this moment, you will find out that the engine is off. After a while, you will hear a beep sound. Do find the oil life setting once more and push the ‘play’ button to ensure the reset.

10. Check the oil level again

At this stage, you are probably all set to go. But do a little before that. Check the dipstick once again. If you see the oil level is at a satisfactory level, you are finally all set.
